Promises to Be a Blue Year
Ernestine
Blue has been elected Rebuilding Together Pasadena’s Board
of Directors President for 2006-2007 in a landslide victory reminiscent
of an “American Idol” vote count. Ernestine, an accountant
for UCLA’s medical department, served as a committed secretary
of the Rebuilding Together Pasadena Board in 2003 and became Vice-President
in 2004, assuming the position of temporary treasurer with the retirement
of founding (now advisory) board member Stella Lucero.
Blue initially became involved with RT Pasadena when she spearheaded
an effort to remodel of her elderly neighbor’s home to provide
handicapped accessibility as her neighbor grew older. Blue‘s
demonstrated leadership abilities as house captain did not go unnoticed,
prompting RT’s Board of Directors to recruit her to become
a Board Member.
Also elected to 2006-2007 Executive Board positions were David Battany
as Vice-President, and outgoing President Normand Leduc as Treasurer.
David Battany became involved in 2003 as a House Captain and joined
the board in 2004. In his position as Director of Single Family
business at Fannie Mae, David manages business relationships with
mortgage lenders. Battany is a former board member of the Linda
Vista Annandale Association and serves as a Pasadena Police Reserve
Officer. Being elected to Vice-President enables David to train
under the tutelage of both Norm and Ernestine for a future presidential
run.
Normand Leduc begins his fifth year of board involvement by passing
the presidential gavel to Ernestine. Normand is a career banker
and Vice-President of Glendale’s National Bank of California.
Leduc has general construction knowledge, is a Rotarian, and Secretary
of the Club Francophone, a French culture and language club.
In an era of unprecedented changes and increasing challenges in
the non-profit organization world, Ernestine’s presidential
term promises to boldly go where no RT Board has gone before.
